Officials

We need officials to join us in sunny Phoenix for Volleyball Festival 2010.  Please, read this information sheet and then download all three registration forms from the Festival website at (www.volleyball-festival.com).  After completing the forms, mail or fax them to Gloria Cox. Gloria must receive these forms by March 15, 2010.

CONTRACT:  You will be sent a contract as notification that your position has been confirmed.

CHECK-IN: 10:00AM-2:00PM on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Phoenix Convention Center.  If you will not be able to arrive before Sunday at 2:00 PM, please inform Gloria, so that other check-in arrangements can be made.

HOUSING:  We will be housed at the Hyatt, two officials to a room.  Please, select another official with whom you can share a room and make note of that on your housing form.

PARKING:  Parking is expensive in the downtown area and will not be paid by the Festival.   Out of town officials should carpool to Phoenix and park in the city parking lots.   Do not valet park, as it is very expensive.  All local officials should plan to park in the light rail parking lots and take the train to the Convention Center.

PIZZA PARTY:  Join us for our annual pizza party on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at 7:00 PM, to be held in conjunction with the mandatory meeting.

MANDATORY MEETING for all officials – 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2010.  Failure to attend this meeting will result in removal from Monday’s schedule.   USAV Rules Clinic – 8:00 PM – Sunday, June 27th.  Only officials who need a USAV Clinic need attend.  (Canadians need not attend.)

TRANSPORTATION:  Officials arriving at the Phoenix Airport should catch the light rail.  Take the Montebello/Northbound train and exit at 3rd St. and Washington for the Hyatt and the Convention Center.

CLOTHING:  The Festival will provide shirts for each official.  Make sure that your sizes are noted on the personal data form.  You need to bring enough pants or shorts in solid navy, black or tan for the entire week. Bring your own officiating shoes, navy blue pants, the white USAV officials’ shirt and white socks for Friday’s matches.   Canadians may bring their national uniform.

USAV #:  It is imperative that each official (except the Canadians) provides the Festival with a current USAV number. After registering with your region, include your USAV number on the personal data sheet or email the number to Gloria before May 1 or you will not be eligible to work at the Festival.

OPENING CEREMONY:  Please, plan to work at the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, June 27th.  Navy or black shorts will be worn with one of the Festival shirts.

COMPETITION:  Matches will be played from Monday through Saturday, July 3rd.   We will use all of our courts on Saturday morning and half of our courts on Saturday afternoon, so some officials will be able to leave on Saturday afternoon. It is important that you inform Gloria if you are leaving before Saturday night, July 3.

We hope to see you at Volleyball Festival 2010!
